In the summer of 1984, a need arose for an installer who was willing to work weekends and evenings. Too many people weren't available during regular business hours (9-5).
Marsha Shaul was managing a showroom for the trade only; that dealt with blinds, drapery fabrics and other resources for designers. Widely respected for her skills at matching the right colors, fabrics and window treatments, designers often asked her for recommendations for just such an installer.
Marsha asked her husband Rick, who was at the time a sales manager for a well-known shutter company, if he wanted to start installing...and he wasn't smart enough to say "no". That decision planted the seed for what was to become Silverline Specialties.
With Rick selling shutters and installing blinds, he and Marsha shared many of the same designer clients. When the decision was made to "go it alone", they opened up to the retail clients as well. They brought to home owners the same expertise and professionalism that had led to their success in the wholesale field. They also had access to many of the resources that had previously only been available to designers. The result has been a highly-regarded and successful company serving both the design trade as well as home owners.
